Hoi een oproep via de Internationale Hyperhidrosis Society!
Het is in het Engels (uiteraard) maar ik denk dat wij best een woordje Engels spreken en het lijkt me een strak plan dat wij ook allemaal een email sturen naar Oprah om aandacht te vragen voor dit probleem!!!

Our dream has come true. Oprah is knocking on our door--and she wants us to tell her about hyperhidrosis. It's your turn to help her understand how hard it is to do simple things that everyone else takes for granted like using a cell phone or a keyboard, playing the guitar, doing homework, raising your hand in class, going on job interviews, shaking hands, and wearing sandals or clothes that aren't black or white. Oprah needs to hear the stories about the children who don't want to hold their parent's hand because it is "all wet and gross". She will hear you if you write to her about all the little girls and boys who once giggled and laughed, but now try to hide themselves and disappear so that no one notices them and their excessive sweating.
This is our opportunity to tell her that we need better treatment options, and that we need manufacturers of current treatments to make them work harder, last longer, be more affordable, and easier to get. Now is the time to speak your truth about how you FINALLY found a doctor who knew how to treat hyperhidrosis, but your insurance wouldn't cover it. And we need to tell Oprah about the extreme measures that some people will take, like surgery, in the hopes of relief.
It's your turn. Write your story whether you suffer personally with this condition, or are a family member that sees firsthand how deeply hyperhidrosis affects the hearts and lives of those afflicted.

Iemand anders had er ook al een link naar deze site opgezet en ik heb het ook nog eens gedaan. Er zijn best veel mensen met hyperhidrosis die iets op dat viva forum schrijven, dus als die hier ook lid zouden worden heb je er al een redelijk grote club bij. Deze site begint in iedergeval al wat bekender te worden, dus wie weet...
